Members Exclusive Remote Observing

  • Sites on rotation every weekend.

  • Bortle scale ranging from 3-5

These sites help us get out of the severe light pollution from our backyards and into darker skies. Join fellow club members every weekend (weather dependent), observe, image, explore the night sky. Socialize with club members, get assistance with equipment, and more.

General Public Remote Observing

Public observing events provide a wonderful opportunity for non-members to join club outings on designated dates, where they can meet enthusiastic members and explore the captivating night sky together. This is an excellent chance to learn more about the club's activities, gather information on membership, and experience the joy of astronomy firsthand! Please check the club calendar on our site to see upcoming public observing dates!

  • NSA has special access to the remote observing sites throughout Northern Illinois.

  • Members-only observing sessions are scheduled every weekend except the weekend nearest the full moon.

  • Solar observing sessions are scheduled several times a year.

  • We host Public Star Parties every year.

  • Member invitation to our private annual club star party at a remote location.
